Stenvar is a Nordic warrior and mercenary in northern Skyrim. He stays at Candlehearth Hall in central Windhelm, and generally sits brooding at a corner table on the second floor. He brags to the approaching prospective employer that there is no better blade available for hire. Like other hirelings, Stenvar is available for 500 
, and can carry goods for the player character as well as fight.
Stenvar comes with Steel Armor, a greatsword and a bow. If re-equipped by the player, he will prefer heavy armor, including steel plate and ebony as well as dwemer, and two-handed weapons such as axes, greatswords and hammers. He never uses magic. However, while not a magic user, he is also hostile to the fallen Dwemer culture; if exploring a Dwemer ruin, he will remark that: "It's unnatural, building all these machines. If you ask me, the Dwemer got what they deserved."
